The launch pad for Nuri, which was implemented with South Korean technology, has emerged. After completing groundwork and tower construction work, it will be ready for the launch of the Nuri by installing additional detailed components such as an electric and ground fixing device to build the launch pad for Nuri is the first launch pad to be developed with domestic technology, except for the initial shape design of some devices.

The Korea Aerospace Research Institute developed the process of interpretation and drawing from the initial design in cooperation with Hyundai Heavy Industries, Keonchang Industrial Machinery Co., Hanyang Engineering and Genec.

The Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) announced on the 7th that it started installing the launch pad for Nuri at the Naro Space Center in Goheung from the end of last year and has been showing a process rate of 80 percent until recently. By the end of the year, all additional parts will be procured and the installation of the launch pad will be completed.

< The launch pad for Nuri is being built at the Naro Space Center in Goheung. Last month, it finished building a tower (green structure in picture) that connects connecting cables to Nuri and allows people to move around.>

The launch pad not only secures Nuri but also connects electrical signals or supplies fuel and propellants.

Developing and building a launch pad with our technology is the basis for localization of space technology. In the past, when it launched the Naro rocket, it entrusted all of its designs to Russia. South Korea only acted as a simple assembly.

The launch pad for Nuri, which was developed with South Korean technology, has advanced structure and functions. It added an "Umbilical Cable" that will deliver fuel and propellant to Nuri's engine, which is developed in a three-stage structure, and designed a structure that allows personnel to move back and forth. The tower also has a holding device that will hold the Nuri until it reaches its highest thrust.

Kang Sun-il, a senior researcher at the launch pad team at the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, said, "Unlike the launch pad for Naro (previous version of Nuri), the launch pad for Nuri was all made with our technology except for a small portion," adding, "After the installation, we will go through a thorough inspection process until just before the launch, including self-verification and verification of the Launch pad for Nuri qualification model (QM) for six months."
